Yes, Virginia, there is a Room of One’s Own for those who want to tap into our creative juices — and it’s in Berkeley. Teahouse Studio in the Strawberry Creek Design Center is a cheerful, colorful, spunky art space that hosts such a variety of classes you’ll be sure to find your niche. Founders Mati Rose McDonough, Tiffany Moore, and Stefanie Renee — all working artists themselves — offer everything from glitter-bomb classes (yes, you can cover almost anything in glitter!) to image-transferring, printmaking, painting, writing, and silversmithing workshops. Classes range from $99 day-longs to $500 weekend stints (which usually include catered lunches). McDonough, Moore, and Stefanie Renee are convinced that it’s not just the space, but the people that create the Teahouse spark. “There’s something so exciting about people coming together and connecting over art,” McDonough said. We agree.
