It’s hard to tell which dish is the superstar at the East Bay’s best Burmese restaurant. Start with the Food Network-featured tea leaf salad, which includes authentic Burmese tea leaves. For your main dish, go with the Oh Noh Kauswer, and you’ll answer, “Oh, yes!” This traditional coconut chicken noodle curry — seasoned with onions, cilantro, lemons, and eggs — is a staple of Burmese cuisine. And if your taste buds are craving something sweet, try the platha, a layered bread dessert served with honey and fruit. The influence in these delicious dishes — many of which can be made vegetarian upon request — comes from India, China, Laos, and Thailand. Our only wish is that Burma shared a border with the East Bay, too.
