Lena Gustafson, whose large mural of a lounging lady is unmissable on Telegraph Avenue in Temescal, joins Harley Eaves, Lillye Hope, and Egle Zvirblyte for As It Is, a group show at Good Mother Gallery. Hope, Zvirblyte, and Gustafson’s works in the show are effective explorations of the human figure, as it is, in repose, in distress, in action, and in community. Eaves, on the other hand, offers his interpretation of still life, which plays with scale and idiosyncratic arrangements of familiar objects. All four artists have distinct visual vocabularies, with which they address their subjects with colorful whimsy, abstracted fantasy, and sculptural quality. The folks at Good Mother have recently opened their gallery to be accessible via 3D rendering on the web through Matterport. Those curious about the show who are unable to come can walk through both floors of the gallery and click on artworks to find out artist names, titles, and even prices of the works at the show. Traditionalists who prefer a less virtual experience can head to Good Mother during their gallery hours.
