Robert Hass Wins Poetry Pulitzer

The 2008 Pulitzer Prizes have been announced, and while we’re furious that our piece on dog walkers who get on our nerves wasn’t recognized, at least UC Berkeley English professor (and occasional poet or something) Robert Hass has won the prize for poetry. Hass took the gold for his book, “Time and Materials,” for which he also won the National Book Award. Meanwhile, former Express staff writer Jennifer Barrios was a Pulitzer finalist, for her work at Newsday identifying serious safety problems at the Long Island Railroad.
