Over the summer, the University of California got itself a lot of headaches when unions representing its medical workers and other service workers staged work stoppages and other actions to protest their low wages. Now, UC officials have at least reached an agreement with the medical workers. According to the Trib, the medical workers, which were underpaid relative to the private sector, will receive a 26 percent raise over four years. That just leaves the remaining 8,000 service employees to bargain with.
