There’s a variety of reasons that a piece of writing or performance art might get rejected. Perhaps it just wasn’t very good. Or, maybe it was too daring, too bold, or too in-your-face. Or it couldn’t be taken seriously, because it was so off-the-hinges. But, as in life, sometimes the best things are those that don’t quite fit in. For that reason, local dancers Abby Crain, Mara Poliak, and Maryanne Lachman are hosting the No Thank You Biennial at Starline Social Club (2236 Martin Luther King Jr. Way, Oakland) on Wednesday, May 25 at 8:30 p.m. The night will feature performances and readings by the likes of performer and author Brontez Purnell and dancer Sarah Pritchard as well as many others. And it’s totally free, so you won’t have to pay a dime to see this full set of beautiful losers.
