To be a football fan in the off-season requires you to be some sort of gridiron Kremlinologist. All the speculation seems based on whose gaining power and who’s losing it.
Hard to believe that the same folk keening about how replays break the flow of the game have the patience and enthusiasm to follow the power barometer of various and sundry mandarins in the team’s front office.
Compare that to the rock ’em sock ’em Hot Stove League in baseball, where rather than get our little heads in a point over who gets to sit next to Bob Geren in the dugout, we get to see the awesome and terrifying rebuilding project that is the Oakland A’s. In less than two hours, more than three hundred entries filled a blog at athleticsnation.com over the trade of Nick “Hollywood” Swisher to the White Sox for three of the Pale Hose’s double-A all stars. Most of which repeat the same three thoughts:

All in all, a great topic to keep the Hot Stove League cooking over the wet weekend ahead. Or knock yourself out wondering about whether ownership’s move to dislodge Mike Nolan as General Manager really means that now hizz ……… Oh, sorry, just dozed off there for an off-season.
