Um, maybe Al Davis had a point after all. Fresh from being fired as coach of the Oakland Raiders, Lane Kiffin got himself a gig as the coach of the Tennessee Volunteers; you might say he landed on his feet. So what does he do but promptly insert one of those feet squa’ in the mouth? At an alumni and donor breakfast yesterday, Kiffin accused the University of Florida of violating NCAA rules in order to recruit wide receiver Nu’Keese Richardson, prompting a firestorm of outrage down in the nation’s wang. By the end of the day, Kiffin was forced to apologize, sez USA Today. “If I offended anyone at the University of Florida … I sincerely apologize,” Kiffin mewled. Since opening his big fucking mouth was one of Davis’ stated reasons for firing him, this latest episode can’t help Kiffin’s suit to get the rest of the money in his contract.
