Due to the scheduling of the sentencing for former BART officer Mehserle, found guilty yesterday of involuntary manslaughter in the killing of Oscar Grant, on August 6, 2010, the East Bay Express has decided to postpone the event to a future date TBD.
Bringing over 20,000 people to downtown Oakland on that date for the kind of celebratory party we envision seems both disrespectful to these events as well as unnecessarily risky for our attendees, artists, performers and vendors.
We are working diligently to find a more ideal date, and will keep you posted as soon as we do.
