Green Day will play a new version of “21 Guns” tonight at the Grammy Awards with the cast of Berkeley Rep’s American Idiot, which, not so surprisingly, is opening its show on Broadway April 20. The new “21 Guns” features a different arrangement of the song (arranged by Tom Kitt, who is credited with the Berkeley Rep show’s arrangements and musical supervision, and is produced by Billie Joe Armstrong) than the album version and includes the American Idiot cast. It’s available via a new 21 Guns EP and the video premieres on AOL Music tomorrow. Green Day is nominated for three 2010 Grammy Awards, including two for “21 Guns (“Best Rock Song” and “Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals”) and one for 21st Century Breakdown, which was nominated for “Best Rock Album.” The Grammys air on CBS tonight at 8 p.m.
