Former BART cop Johannes Mehserle apparently had a troubling history, even before he shot the unarmed Oscar Grant on New Year’s Day of 2009.Today a federal jury rejected a new charge from Oakland resident Kenneth Carrethers, who alleged that Mehserle and four other officers beat, berated, and hog-tied him during a routine arrest at the Coliseum station, just two months before the Oscar Grant shooting. The incident left Carrethers with severe face and chest bruises that required hospital treatment, the Chron reported.
