.East Bay Band Worthwhile Makes It Onto Stuff You Will Hate

It’s probably not the type of publicity the band was hoping for, but Worthwhile, an East Bay Christian “hardcore” band (who, judging from its MySpace page resides somewhere over the hills) made it onto the blog Stuff You Will Hate last week (thanks, Metal Sucks). The site — which highlights some of the more horrific elements of youth culture (e.g. crabcore, emo kids, etc.)— ridicules the band’s positive speaking vocals and two-step moves in its video for “Good Guys Win.” (Sample lyrics: It’s our time to rise, it’s our time to shine, it’s our time to take back what’s yours and mine, so let’s do this, and let’s do this right!) Here’s how the band describes itself, according to its MySpace site: “We’re a band that has high intentions on letting our light shine for Jesus Christ, but we also like to have tons of fun playing music. ‘MUSIC IS OUR PASSION, JESUS IS OUR LIFE’ As for now, our expectations are high with how far we go with this band, but we just really want to get our music out there for everybody. It’s definitely not at all about the money, but we’re prepared to spend as much money as possible to make sure you hear our music, AND LIKE IT! We love you. Praise God.”
