What to make of the last lines in Sunday’s Matier in Ross column? “Don’t be surprised if Oakland Mayor Ron Dellums is offered an ambassadorship to an African nation down the line,” the pair wrote. “And definitely don’t be upset if he takes it.” Do they know something we don’t? Or did they run out of shit to say before hitting their requisite word count, and threw in a little filler to top it off? We’re guessing the latter, ’cause we’re mean like that. But say it’s true: Would history thank Dellums for walking away from a job he is clearly unqualified for? Or curse him for bailing on the mess he helped make?
