Comic Relief Closes

After months of staff turnover, cash flow problems, and a dearth of new shipments, Berkeley’s Comic Relief finally closed, according to a blog post from Berkeleyside. While it’s still unclear who (or what) is to blame for the store’s recent woes, it is safe to say that things were never the same after store founder Rory Root died two years ago. Staff at Comic Relief suggested in previous interviews that they may ultimately open a similar store under a new name. They will likely be joined by the owner of Dark Carnival, a science fiction bookstore that recently purchased Comic Relief’s stock, according to Berkeleyside blogger Christopher Allen.
