When searching for a place to watch the sunset, you typically think of high-up spots in the hills, like Indian Rock and the Lawrence Hall of Science. And while those places offer great views, watching the sunset over the water is even more majestic — and for that there’s no better place in the East Bay than the Berkeley Marina. Head over to Cesar Chavez Park during the late afternoon with a friend and/or lover and laze around while watching the kite fliers. Once the sun starts to set, take a romantic (or platonic) stroll on the flat walking path by the bay, where you can feel the breeze off the water and see the San Francisco skyline. If you can snag a bench, you can sit right by the water and watch the sailboats — and your worries — drift away.
