Best Place to Score a Triple Eagle

Lake Chabot Golf Course

You want bragging rights at the 19th hole? Try taking on a challenge
that would cause PGA pros to run for their golf carts or go crying to
their caddies. Oakland’s Lake Chabot course finishes up with one of the
nation’s few par-6 holes. Number 18 is a 673-yard monster that is so
long you practically have to cross the street to finish. The links have
both a regulation course and a 9-hole pitch-and-putt loop that will get
you in shape to face a fairway that Tiger Woods might reach in 2.
That’s not the only claim to fame for this local landmark. Lake Chabot
is where history happens, too. In operation since 1923, the course is
also home to the city’s annual championship, this year hosting the 87th
annual tournament. It’s easy to join up with a group if you’re golfing
solo, too. Just make sure that you bring enough club to finish up
strong, otherwise you may be out there a while. Come to think of it,
that’s not such a bad thing either.
