Red Bay Coffee doesn’t settle for coffee that just tastes good. It has to do good. The Black-owned roastery prioritizes hiring women and people of color and operates with an innovative profit-sharing model that makes employees stakeholders in the business. Owner Keba Konte directly sources Red Bay’s beans from 12 different ecologically friendly small farms on three continents. At their Fruitvale facility, Red Bay offers tours, tastings, community events, and a co-working space where visitors can learn about the many — mostly Brown — hands that link the chain from bean to cup.
