Pancakes are a great American classic, and you can reasonably expect any restaurant that serves refinements of American classics to include them on its breakfast menu. But cornmeal pancakes — now that’s something extra. Full House in Oakland’s Laurel District prepares wonderful, sturdy treats that have the firm “bite” of good cornbread and are even better with some blueberries thrown in. You can order one, two, or three cakes depending upon your appetite — they are quite filling, so watch out — and they’re served with real maple syrup. To wash it all down, the cafe serves coffee from Brewberry’s, the independent coffee store right up the street: a neighborly touch for a neighborly restaurant.
