A little-known gem near the corner of 37th and Telegraph, this Korean restaurant is a boon for late-night feasters. Inside the surprisingly long, bamboo-accented room, the walls of which are plastered with Korean-character-bedecked wallpaper, a jukebox blasts Korean pop music, and the friendly, extremely accommodating staff makes for a celebratory and always-intoxicating experience. Ask your waitress for recommendations on the best seafood, the tastiest barbecued meats, and the most savory noodle dishes. Then make sure to order a bottle of soju to help wash down all those little side dishes, or banchan, that come with each meal. If you come late at night with a big group, sit at the long, communal table — dishes are served mostly family-style, and if you bring someone who knows what they’re doing, you’ll find yourself confronted with mountains of food. Kang Tong Degi is open for regular dinner hours, too, but the party tends to really get going after 11.
