According to Alameda County Food Bank officials, requests for aid have risen as much as forty percent in the last year, and St. Vincent De Paul spokeswoman Colleen Miller said the food lines, which can stretch to 800 people at its Oakland office, are reaching “Depression-era” levels. But remember, we had positive growth last quarter. Now, who wants to blow a wad at Sharper Image?
