Why Isn’t Yusuf Bey IV Charged in Chauncey Bailey’s Murder?

Because District Attorney Tom Orloff already has enough on him to put him away for the kidnapping charges. That’s what Orloff told the legal newspaper The Recorder recently. As far as Bailey’s killing is concerned, he added, his office only has enough on Bey to charge with him being an accessory after the fact, which would only result in a three-year sentence; Orloff claimed he didn’t want to go forward with that, because future evidence might implicate Bey in the murder itself, and he didn’t want double jeopardy to preclude the possibility of nailing Bey for a heavier sentence.
