The Oakland Tribune reports the scene from the Oracle Arena, where thousands of people showed up and wept as they watched Barack Obama assume the presidency. Oaklanders of all stripes cried copious tears and harkened back to the civil rights movement, and one woman charmingly shouted, “Obama, baby!” at random. The scene was similar at Everett & Jones barbecue and Berkeley High; a grand affair all around.
