KTVU has discovered a new cell phone video, showing the moments just before BART cop Johannes Mehserle shot Hayward resident Oscar Grant. And according to the Chron, it shows that BART police were clearly violent and abusive toward Grant. In the video, a cop identified as Tony Pirone walks over the Grant, grabs him, and punches him in the head, dropping him to the ground. From here, apparently, the cops proceeded to try to cuff him before firing the fatal shot. Golden Gate University law professor Peter Keane called the attack “vicious, unprovoked, and inexcusable.”
