Lawyer for Bailey’s Alleged Killer Missing

Maybe this is why Alameda Superior Court Judge Morris Jacobson, who presided over former BART cop Johannes Mehserle’s bail hearing, was so cranky on Friday. He’s also presiding over the preliminary hearings in the trial of Devaughndre Broussard, who’s accused of murdering reporter Chauncey Bailey. On Friday morning, Brossard’s case to due to come before Jacobson at 9 am, but his lawyer LaRue Grim never showed up. Now, the hearing has been postponed until February 20, further dragging out a case that is 18 months old. Jacobson didn’t appreciate Grim’s vanishing act at all, and threatened to fine him if he tried such nonsense again.
