New Details Emerge in Slaying of Father

Alvaro Ayala, the Oakland father who was shot and killed in front of his wife and two children, had stepped between his family and two robbers to protect them, the Chron reports. Ayala had already handed over his cell phone and wallet to the masked robbers, but the wallet was empty and they wanted more. So then when he stepped between them and his family, they shot him to death. It was Oakland’s first homicide of 2010.
