Alameda City Councilwoman Lena Tam and former San Leandro Mayor Shelia Young have dropped out of the race to replace county Supervisor Alice Lai-Bitker, the Trib reports. The two departures likely will result in a close matchup between former state Assemblywoman Wilma Chan and Alameda Mayor Beverly Johnson.
