In a front-page story today, the San Francisco Chronicle warns that Obama’s budget “piles on $10 trillion” to the national debt in the next decade and that exploding deficits promise to derail his presidency. Reporter Carolyn Lockhead then quotes “experts” who blame the president, but effectively exonerate George W. Bush, even though the problem of soaring deficits began in his presidency and he left office with two expensive wars still raging and the nation mired in the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression.
