Earlier this week, we reported that 924 Gilman was in jeopardy of closing its doors because its landlord is raising its rent by nearly $3,000 a month starting July 1. Although we haven’t yet been able to get in touch with anyone at the venue, which is run by all volunteers, a comment left by “924 Gilman Staff” on a blog post soliciting donations reveals that the venue is trying to attain nonprofit status in order to apply for grants.
