Was It Brown’s Wife Who Called Whitman a “Whore?”

Speculation is starting to swirl that it was Jerry Brown’s wife, Anne Gust Brown, who called Meg Whitman a “whore” on an accidental voicemail message. A cleaned-up recording of the message clearly reveals that it was a woman who said, “whore” — not Brown, himself, as the Whitman campaign has falsely alleged. And since Brown likely would have fired that person if she was an aide, then some are concluding that it must have been Gust (who works closely with her husband in his office and on his campaign) who called Whitman a “whore” for allegedly striking a deal with a law enforcement union to protect pensions in exchange for its endorsement.
