Best Rock en EspañolReason to listen to Viva 105

Orixa

Orixa recently rocked out at Roccapulco in San Francisco on a show hosted by Viva 105, a new Spanish-language rock station in San Jose pioneering this youth-oriented music format in Northern California. Orixa started in the early 1990s at the Berkeley Square and hooked up with the pioneer label Aztlan Records. The California Music Award-winners are now internationally recognized and playing as a newly reorganized quintet that features original members Rowan Jimenez (lead vocals) and Juan Manuel Caipo (drums). “Siembra” is the title of this East Bay band’s current single. This may be its breakout year, with a new album due out this summer and a lean touring act ready to take it to the next phase.
