The Kitchen Sink: New Bars Coming to Uptown, Greek Food in Grand Lake

Coming, going and growing: We weren’t lying when we told you that Oaklland’s becoming a bona fide bar town: this week brings happy news of not one, not two, but threenew spots set to open soon, all within the space of a few blocks in Uptown Oakland.
First, a Brooklyn-based management company has signed a lease on the space at 1741 Telegraph, across the street from the Fox Theater. According to Grub Street, the as-yet-unnamed business is set to open in the summer and will have a snack menu. Second, about a block down Telegraph, look for Bar Dogwood, which is being run by former House of Shields owner Alexeis Filipello and which will serve charcuterie-style snacks in addition to beer, wine, and cocktails. And third, Flora is expanding, with a 2,000-square-foot bar space adjacent to the restaurant.
