Who said men in spa chairs aren’t sexy? No one at this popular Grand Avenue nail salon. While women read the latest In Touch or US Weekly, it’s not uncommon to see a man sitting next to her. But it’s not the type of guy you might think. Suave, professional types with Bluetooth headsets in tow make business deals while getting their feet scrubbed. Even an elderly Chinese man was spotted with his suit pants rolled up. Maybe it’s the salon’s welcoming tropical vibe created by dark-purple velvet drapes and shady palm trees that makes this place more like a resort than an estrogen tank. According to owner Melissa Matzke, the salon serves two to five male customers a day. Many have a particular pedicurist they like and have become strictly devoted. One construction worker comes in with his wife and likes getting pedicures because they look like car colors. Whatever your excuse, no one here will criticize you.
