Monday Must Read

Stories that you shouldn’t miss:

1. An oil company ballot measure that would roll back California’s landmark climate-change law apparently has gathered enough signatures to qualify for the November election, the Chron reports. Funded by Texas oil companies Valero and Tesoro, the proposition would indefinitely suspend AB 32, a 2006 law that requires the state to increase renewable energy use. The oil companies say the law will harm California’s already damaged economy, but independent reports dispute that contention.

2. The Chronicle’s Carla Marinucci and Joe Garofoli did a handy fact-check guide on yesterday’s debate between GOP gubernatorial candidates Meg Whitman and Steve Poizner. My personal favorite is Whitman’s attempt to spin her now illegal “spinning” as a board member for Goldman Sachs.
