SFJAZZ announced last week it has plans to build its first permanent home and the West Coast’s first facility dedicated to jazz music and education. The 35,000-square-foot center will be built in San Francisco’s Hayes Valley, thanks to an anonymous $20 million donation. (The organization plans to raise another $60 million.) It will include a 700-seat auditorium, rehearsal studios, a black-box theater, digital lab, and restaurant/cafe. Groundbreaking is scheduled for summer 2011.
