Is this format the new norm? A new quarterly DJ series combining fashion, art, and food will have its second installment tomorrow night at Mighty. Beat Market combines “rare internationally acclaimed musical performers/acts in conjunction with décor, art, fashion, and street food vendors to create an artistic-savvy, non-pretentious atmosphere whereby patrons can be exposed to more than just a club night out.” It’s just another event trying to get folks to spend their cash by bringing multiple aspects to the typical club scene. These days it seems like no DJ event is cool enough unless it’s got live painting, screen-printers, and someone selling vintage and/or hand-made hoodies and/or jewelry in the corner. Beat Market will have a free trunk show plus wine tasting and free food from street-food-cart vendors. Music will be supplied by Belgium’s Spirit Catcher, plus Al Veilla, eug, and Close Gravity & Jonathan W. 7 p.m., free from 7-9 p.m., $10 before 11 p.m.
