.The Play in 3-D

Just for fun, here’s a little film about The Play, the end of the 1982 Cal-Stanford game and the best finish in college ball. A group of Cal computer science wiz kids used 3-D animation software to “prove” that Dwight Garner’s knee didn’t touch the ground before he pitched the ball to Richard Rogers.

By the way, that Stanford trombone player trampled in the end zone? He’s now the chief financial officer of a major venture capital fund. Those Cal computer boys better not go looking for first-round financing from the Woodside Fund.
