.Nacho Out as Oakland Council Prez

So the Trib reports that Ignacio De la Fuente will not seek another term as president of the Oakland City Council. Which means he couldn’t swing enough votes, ’cause you just know he wouldn’t give it up without a fight. We’re guessing that with Henry Chang gone, and Rebecca Kaplan in, Nacho’s days were numbered. But who will replace him? The Trib‘s short money is on Jane Brunner, especially since Larry Reid said he’ll back Brunner if he doesn’t have the votes. Finally, will it make a difference? The Council’s been awfully quiet when it comes to Ron Dellums’ vanishing act, although we’re not in a position to judge what they’ve done inside City Hall to force important issues to come to his attention. We’ll just have to wait and see.
