Generally speaking, tribute albums are pretty lame. For example, what’s with the oversaturated market for Radiohead remixes? Classical pianist and radio show host Christopher O’Reilly is admittedly guilty of a little “Paranoid Android” revisiting, but his hushed reinterpretations of Elliott Smith songs are wonderful in that depressing, mired-in-loneliness kind of way. A couple clips were played on NPR’s Weekend Edition in the early morning last Sunday, and we were suddenly in awe. Blame it on the rain.
