.MOG Unveils iPhone App

Berkeley-based blog network ventures into the mobile phone realm.

Long known as a music blogging site and network for iPod junkies, MOG stepped up its game this morning, by unveiling a new, slick, cloud-based music service for iPhones and Androids. The application is free, though it requires a $10 a month subscription to MOG’s digital downloading service, which would connect to clients’ mobile phones and home computers. But that’s a bargain, said reviewers at Wired, who were all a-tizzy. Advantages of the MOG app? Well, it’s cheap, for one thing. Such mobile subscriptions typically run to $15 a month, or more. Plus it offers a capacious library of eight million songs, all available sans a USB cable. Tech geeks also applauded MOG for expunging all Digital Rights Management (DRM) protections. As MOG CEO David Hyman assured in an interview with Billboard, “We want to make it ridiculously easy.”
