The Completely Abridged History of Bay Area Music

July 27 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

$25 – $125

Rhythmix Cultural Works presents The Completely Abridged History of Bay Area Music with Mark Montgomery French – a 6 week course on Zoom, Tuesdays, July 27th – August 31st from 7:00 – 9:00pm.  Single classes also available.

From the Wine Country to Silicon Valley, the Bay Area has historically been a haven for invention and an incubator for creativity. Mark Montgomery French’s latest course reveals the Bay’s inventive influence on folk, rock, R&B, gospel, punk, Latin music, hip-hop, classical, jazz, and experimental music. As always, there will be jokes, and now, also maps!

The Completely Abridged History of Bay Area Music is a humorous, immersive, and historically accurate course that distills six decades of mind-altering, revolutionary-starting, beat-making, and life-affirming music that originated from the nine Bay Area counties.

Featuring: The Grateful Dead, Sly and The Family Stone, Janis Joplin, The Pointer Sisters, Tower of Power, The Avengers, Chris Isaak, Faith No More, Too $hort, 2Pac, Green Day, Primus, Oh Sees, Ledisi, Mac Dre, Tune-Yards, Toro y Moi, Fantastic Negrito, and more!
