Join our next Taco Tour, this Saturday!

June 12 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Join us as we celebrate the rich, vibrant cultural history and developing landscape of the Fruitvale district in Oakland, California in our Un-Cinco de Mayo taco tour.

Why? Because we can enjoy ourselves, eat, turn up AND uplift the truth for the people who experience it…and Oakland and the Fruitvale have gotten such a bad wrap that we are going to turn that around here!

In this tour, we will explore some of Oakland’s rich and complex history through food and drank, political, cultural, racial, economic and governance perspectives.  In the same way Cinco de Mayo has been co-opted for commercial use, Oakland, too has been misunderstood and misrepresented, so we bout to learn today!

This tour is about more than just delicious tacos 😉

We’ll peruse a 6-block radius in the heart of the Fruitvale neighborhood, you’ll have the opportunity to appreciate locals and businesses and the food, art, sights and relationships they have built over decades in partnership with community members, local government and developers.

Along the way we’ll visit the best taquerias in the Fruitvale neighborhood – arguably the best tacos in the Bay Area. If you’re a taco lover then this is a local mecca with over 17 taquerias in one square mile – it’s taco heaven!

By the end of this walking tour you’ll be able to sample different styles and types of tacos (depending on your preference), develop a palate for different salsas and toppings, get to know the culture and history of the Fruitvale District, and finally have the best taco of your life (in our opinion) .
