SF’s Soma StrEat Park — always making silly fun with corn dog eating competitions, Diva Dance brunches, and National Pi Day puzzle nights — will be holding an attempt at the world record for the largest serving of nachos. And it will be doing so with more than 2,000 pounds of cricket chips. What are cricket chips? Well, the Earth Day event is sponsored by Chirp Chips, which make these tortilla chips with ground up crickets, the planet-friendly food of the future. To go with these chirpin’ chips will be 1,000 pounds of nacho cheese and several hundred pounds each of corn and beans. Plus, salsa. A five-ton plate of nachos? Could be yummy. Could be strange. Or both.
