MediaNews reports that next year San Ramon’s Chevron will be sinking a record-setting $19.6 billion into exploring and developing new petroleum sources, most of them in the Gulf of Mexico. Chevron execs say that some of these new sources, which could produce as many as 125,000 barrels of oil daily, could lead to a drop in the price of gas. But the best thing about this article is that it reveals some of the names Chevron has chosen for its future Gulf projects : “Jack,” “Tahiti,” and, um, “Great White Perdido” and “Blind Faith.”
