Whatever your politics, it’s good to be the mayor of Oakland. CBS correspondent Sherry Hu reports that the following corporations have shelled out tens of thousands of dollars to fete the new mayor at his inaugural parties: AT&T and Kaiser Permanente gave $50,000; Comcast, TV One, the Port of Oakland, and HMS Host intend to give $25,000 apiece, and Clorox and Safeway will each donate $15,000. In return, the companies get their names splashed on banners and primo seats. But no pay-to-play or special favors behind closed doors. Remember: This is a new day in Oakland.
