.Broussard Says Cop Encouraged Him to Save Bey

In an interview with 60 Minutes, murder suspect Devaughndre Broussard suggested that an Oakland police officer encouraged him to take the fall for the murder of reporter Chauncey Bailey. Broussard said that Oakland detective Derwin Longmire allowed bakery leader Yusuf Bey IV to meet with him in private shortly before he admitted to the murder of Bailey. “They were getting along like they really knew each other,” Broussard said of Bey and the detective. “The detective he was saying, like, ‘You can’t let Yusuf Bey IV go down. He doing good in the community. He helping out black people.'”
