Berkeley native Colin Tilley became a professional music video director when he was barely old enough to drink, and now, at 23, he’s assembled a portfolio as impressive as any industry vet. Though Tilley now spends most of his time in LA, his story is homegrown through and through: A veteran of Berkeley High’s video-production program, he got his start directing videos for local acts like the Cataracs and Beeda Weeda. His dreamy, narrative-focused videos caught the eye of Taj, another East Bay director who’s now making it big. Before long, Tilley found himself directing videos for the likes of Chris Brown and Justin Bieber. “It’s pretty amazing,” he said. “And it’s getting better every day.”
