.Best Pastries: Baked goods and dim sum to touch your heart

Delicious Food Company

If you’ve ever visited Hong Kong, you know the bakeries and dim sum shops are to die for. Delicious Food Company sells both of the above, and its offerings are just as good as the real thing halfway across the world. The shop is relatively cramped, which helps with the authentic feel of the place. The baked goods selection, however, is huge: special-order sponge-cream cakes, white sugar rice cake, car wheel cake, coco-cream egg bun, almond cookies, cream horn, mung bean with salt egg cake, walnut cake, lotus seed with two yolk moon cake, and gelatinous wrap cakes in strawberry, banana, or honeydew flavors. Dim sum — it means “touched heart” in Cantonese — treats such as egg tart, black bean cake, turnip cake, and sou bun are also available if you arrive early. The prices are more than reasonable. You can pick up a box filled with delicious sweets — paper wrap cakes, pineapple and lotus seed moon cakes, bean sesame puffs, and more — for less than $10.
