Royal Grounds Coffee

music in the park san jose

What makes for a great cafe isn’t necessarily what makes for a great work/study cafe. A bustling environment, good people-watching, interesting art, and lively music are fine, but when you want to really get down to business with your laptop, you need something a little different. At Royal Grounds, there’s plenty of bright light flowing through ceiling-to-floor windows. The decor is unremarkable but serene, consisting mainly of natural wood tones. There’s a good low-level hum that gives you something to actively tune out without cutting into your thoughts. Computer stations with DSL access let you keep up with your e-mail (for $7 per hour), if you’re so inclined. And, of course, there’s an ample selection of drinks and some very tempting desserts and pastries to keep you going. If these aren’t enough, you can always check in with the other hard-at-work patrons for encouragement.
