Esqueleto

Say what you will about Pinterest, but it’s certainly made weddings more interesting. In fact, these days, it’s like if you don’t have a hand-sewn dress, a wedding march composed just for you and performed by a string band made up of only of your closest friends, and/or centerpieces made out of, like, live baby rabbits and flowers picked from your own backyard, your nuptials (and possibly your life??) are hopelessly mainstream. And yet, somehow, the vast majority of us are still holding on to the idea that wedding rings need to be simple and standard. Sure, you can probably buy a plain gold band at Temescal Alley’s Esqueleto, but why would you when you could get one that’s delicately engraved into a braid pattern by the cult-favorite New York-based jewelry designer Satomi Kawakita, or an impossibly sophisticated-looking 14-karat rose-gold-and-black-diamond band handmade by shop owner Lauren Wolf, or a yellow-gold Katrina LaPenne ring exquisitely shaped like a fairly deadly looking snake? What’s more, the tiny shop’s selection is well curated and ever changing; its service is helpful and never pushy; and prices are far more reasonable than what you’ll find at a chain jewelry store.
