.Berkeley Blogger Sues Military

Berkeley writer and grandmother Jane Stillwater has embedded herself with American soldiers in Iraq, writing about her experience for a few fairly obscure Web outlets. She was all set to do it again last January, after an army flack sent her an email clearing her for two weeks of embedded reporting. She bought herself a plane ticket and everything. Unfortunately, the army rescinded its offer later that same day. So Stillwater took the flight to Kuwait and hung around in the airport Starbucks, guzzling caffeine, hanging around other journos, and hoping against hope that the military would reconsider. They never did. So now, according to the Contra Costa Times, Stillwater is suing the army for the cost of the plane ticket and the 15 mocha lattes she drank in Kuwait. What a fun broad!
